Context
Italy has the oldest military model in Europe: after the wave of sightings in 1978, the government designated the Aeronautica Militare as the official body responsible, and since 1972 it has catalogued some 445 cases. That archive, however, is not published online in consultable form: reports are filed on paper before the Carabinieri and the casework is released only intermittently. Hence the count here is minimal against the real volume.
